Golden Visa (Investor Residence)
Spain's Golden Visa program provides residence permits for non-EU investors. Note: Real estate golden visas were suspended in April 2024. Current options include significant capital investment, business projects creating jobs, or investment in Spanish companies. Existing real estate holders can renew. Provides residence and path to citizenship after 10 years.
- Qualifying investment (capital, business, or previously acquired real estate)
- Valid passport
- Health insurance
- Clean criminal record from past 5 years
- Proof of sufficient funds beyond investment
- Real estate investment route suspended for new applicants since April 2024
- Existing real estate holders can still renew
- Must maintain investment during permit validity
- No minimum residency requirement to maintain permit
Processing time: 20-30 days (by law)
Fee: Varies by consulate and type
Apply at Spanish consulate or, if legally in Spain, at immigration office
