Non-Lucrative Visa
Spain's Non-Lucrative Visa is for individuals who wish to live in Spain without engaging in any work or professional activity. Applicants must prove they have sufficient passive income or savings to support themselves. Leads to permanent residence after 5 years and citizenship eligibility after 10 years.
- Proof of passive income (investments, pensions, rental income, savings)
- Private health insurance with full coverage in Spain (no co-pays)
- Clean criminal record from all countries lived in past 5 years
- Valid passport
- Proof of accommodation in Spain
- Medical certificate proving no serious illness
- Cannot work in Spain - any employment is strictly prohibited
- Cannot engage in remote work or freelancing
- Must spend majority of time in Spain (no more than 6 months abroad per year)
- Become Spanish tax resident
Processing time: 1-3 months
Fee: Approximately €80 visa fee
Apply at Spanish consulate in country of residence
