Portugal's Startup Visa program allows entrepreneurs from outside the EU to develop innovative projects in Portugal. The program provides a residence permit for founders who are accepted into a certified incubator. Portugal's growing tech ecosystem, with hubs in Lisbon and Porto, and favorable tax regimes make it attractive for startups.
- Acceptance letter from certified Portuguese incubator
- Innovative business project with potential for job creation
- Business plan demonstrating scalability and innovation
- Proof of sufficient funds for stay
- Valid passport
- Health insurance covering Portugal
- Clean criminal record
- Not previously a resident of Portugal
- Must develop project within certified incubator initially
- Must maintain startup activity in Portugal
- Project must remain innovative and create economic value
Processing time: 2-4 months
Fee: €90 visa fee + €83 residence permit
Two-stage process: First apply to incubator through Startup Portugal, then apply for residence visa
